Supporting Addiction Treatment
LiquiMedLock™ Inc. was established in 2012 to provide the addiction treatment sector with safe, reliable packaging products to support opioid agonist therapy (OAT) – also known as opioid substitution therapy (OST) or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) – programs. Methadone is one of the golden standards used to treat opioid use disorder (OUD). While methadone has positively changed the lives of many people suffering from OUD, it is a controlled substance that has the potential to cause harm when not used or stored appropriately.

Our goal was therefore to create a product that would allow methadone prescriptions to be filled and delivered quickly, efficiently, and safely from the time the prescription is filled, to instances in which take-home doses are approved. We wanted to create a product that could improve operational efficiencies while simultaneously protecting the patient and those around them. Using our expertise in compliance packaging, we designed what is now the “best practice” bottle for liquid methadone and the most widely used methadone bottle across North America.
We expanded our product offering to further support the efforts of methadone treatment programs.
To further support the efforts of methadone treatment programs, LiquiMedLock™ expanded our product offering to include secure methadone lock boxes for the safe storage and transport of this medication. To help support pharmacies, we added a table-top methadone bottle capper to make the process of batch filling methadone doses quicker, easier, and more efficient.

LiquiCapture™ Urine Collection Cups were another innovative product we designed for addiction treatment programs to streamline the process of drug screening and improve the reliability of these tests. Every LiquiMedLock™ packaging product is thoughtfully designed to provide safety and support to healthcare practitioners, pharmacists, and patients and their loved ones.
Harm Reduction
Methadone packaging plays an important, if not vital, role in harm reduction. LiquiMedLock™ products have been carefully designed to prevent leakage, prevent children and pets from accessing the contents of the bottle, and aid in tracking chain of custody. Not only can a bottle protect the patient, but it can also protect those around them.

Child resistant, leakproof caps can keep children and pets safe. The leakproof nature of our caps can also support the patient’s recovery program by ensuring no loss of medication occurs so they have access to the exact dose they need for recovery while also preventing dangerous withdrawal symptoms.

The tamper evident feature of our bottles has the potential to aid in tracking chain of custody and preventing methadone diversion which, in turn, can reduce harms to patients as well as other addicts.

Charity
LiquiMedLock™ is invested in supporting our community. Whether it is sponsoring an organization or giving donations, we strive to do our part in supporting those impacted by mental health and addiction. Our most recent donation was to Jac's Toronto, which is an organization devoted to providing mental health and addiction services to individuals and families living in Toronto.
Sustainability
The impact we have on the environment is important to us. Reducing our carbon footprint guides all of our day-to-day business operations. Sustainability is at the forefront of our packaging design process. We have recently developed child resistant tested and certified pop-top pill bottles (pop-top vials). Not only are these pill bottles made from a material with low greenhouse gas production, but they are also 100% recyclable. In addition, our manufacturing facilities follow good manufacturing practices and we hold numerous certifications. In 2024, LiquiMedLock™ plans to finish the ISO 14001 certification to further reduce our impact on the environment.
